Creating Dubstep Music – The Basics

Sonny Moore (skrillex)
Over the past few years, many observers of the music industry have seen the genre of Dubstep grow exponentially. Owing to this factor, many people are now getting their feet wet in this genre because of its ever-increasing popularity and potential for improvement. Most of the EDM artists around the world have already tried to produce in this genre so far.

If you're looking forward to become a dubstep producer (like myself) then there are a few steps that you will need to follow in order to get started. Many people want to follow their dream of becoming a world-renowned DJ, yet they do not know where they should start. Therefore, I will take this opportunity to give you a head start in this part. You can also get inspiration from websites like Dubstep.Net.

The first thing that you need to do in order to become a dubstep producer is to choose a good software package that lets you create electronic music. There are many softwares for this purpose, namely: Reason, FL Stuido, Logic and Abelton. These are the top fours softwares in the market. I personally use Reason because of its user-friendly GUI, and maybe also because its the first music production software that I had heard about.

Once you have this part figured out then the rest is all about your own hard work. You can create music and post it to blogs like these. There are a bunch of tutorials throughout the internet on how to produce dubstep with specific music softwares, and you can start with any one of them to know where to start. After that, its just improvisation over time that will make a professional producer.

Leaving you with a sick skrillex track:
